What is Nexus?
Mission
To develop expansive technology connecting a decentralized world.
Vision
Nexus is a community-driven project with the common vision of a world inspired by innovation and responsible values, expansive technology, and the fundamental quality of connection being ubiquitous, free, and available to everyone. Our technology is designed to simplify lives, empower communities, and streamline business, while embodying the founding principles of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.

Our technology is designed to simplify lives, empower communities, and streamline business, while embodying the founding principles of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Nexus Ecosystem will introduce ‘NXS’, the native cryptocurrency of our platform, which was mined into existence September 23rd, 2014 with no ICO or premine.
NEXUS BLOCKCHAIN
The TAO Framework is a seven-layered software stack that powers a register-based process virtual machine, serving as a powerful DApp and contract platform creating value across many industries. The first of three major architectural upgrades, the Tritium Protocol was released in late 2019 ushering in the era of the TAO Framework (Tritium, Amine, & Obsidian). Developers can access an array of industry specific JSON-based API's including but not limited to: encrypted communication, digital identifiers, supply chain, asset management, cryptography, & tokenization.
What is NXS?
Today, Fiat currencies depend on governments, central banks, and third party payment service providers. Banks charge fees for cross-border transactions, and can take many days to clear. Additionally, payment services such as Visa charge fees to the end-user as well as the merchant.
Nexus is used to verify transactions. However, unlike traditional methods, the data is verified by a decentralized global consensus, rather than a central authority. Thus, NXS can be exchanged between peers, and its issuance is independent of a central authority, which replaces the requirement of central banks, commercial banks, payment services and similar intermediaries.

The creation of NXS is very different to the issuance of tokens via Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), which are produced at zero cost. Instead, the process of creating NXS requires mining (similar to that of BTC) or staking, which gives a base value to the currency being backed by the physical resources required to create each individual NXS coin.
NXS ECONOMICS
There are three ways to obtain NXS:
There are multiple exchanges and swap platforms that list NXS for purchase or trade. The easiest way to buy NXS is to use the Instaswap widget where you can use Fiat or Bitcoin to purchase NXS directly from our website. Instructions are also available to aid first time buyers on the NXS purchasing processes.
Staking is an energy efficient form of mining that processes transactions and provides security to the Nexus Blockchain. In order to Stake, you must hold your NXS in a Nexus Wallet. In return, you are rewarded NXS at a rate of 0.5% to 3.0% per year on your holdings.
Mining is a process in which a computer program is run by high-performance hardware to process transactions and provide security to the Nexus Blockchain. In return, miners are rewarded NXS. All transactions on Nexus are validated by three channels; two Proof-of-Work (PoW) channels (Prime and Hashing) and one Proof of Stake (PoS) channel.
Wallet Features
You are able to access your Nexus Wallet anywhere, anytime, by simply downloading the application and logging in (via username, Password, and PIN). A huge advantage of the Nexus Wallet is that users no longer have the burden of storing keys on a hard drive or hardware wallet, or rely on third party custodian services. A wallet.dat file for key storage (a common necessity in legacy blockchain systems) is no longer required.
Market Data
View live market data from Bittrex and Binance, monitor market liquidity, and view the history of past market trends.
Address Book
Save contacts within a comprehensive Address Book. Store details on your contacts such as: NXS address, email address, phone number and time zone.
Transaction Details
Search, filter, and export transactions as a *.CSV file, or view your transaction history as a live graph.
Seamless Software Updates
Download software updates as simply as you do with a smartphone. Checking into GitHub to see the most up to date version is no longer necessary.
Mobile Wallet
The Nexus mobile wallet is currently in beta. Built with a focus on reliability and security, using the same modular framework behind the desktop wallet, the Nexus mobile wallet eliminates reliance on centralized servers, provides unprecedented access to the Nexus network and the ability to access your accounts from the palm of your hand. Future releases will allow users the ability to manage coins, tokens and assets from their smartphone.
Traditionally, mobile wallets use a central node run by the wallet designer to communicate with the rest of the network. The central node acts as a trusted proxy and is the sole provider of information regarding blockchain state. The Nexus wallet, on the other hand, operates as a lite node by downloading a list of peers from the network seed nodes and forming connections to several of its peers. This allows the wallet to broadcast transactions directly to the network and detect confirmations by checking for inclusion against block headers. The Nexus mobile wallet gains added security by being able to verify block headers provided by multiple peers instead of through one central node. For the tech-savvy, this is also known as Simplified Payment Verification.
