Helping To Keep You Safe Online
Over the past week some of our customers have reached out to us following the Optus cyber-attack with questions about how to stay safe online and to know if their data has been impacted.

To be clear, DreamozTech’s customers’ data has not been impacted. We have however heightened our monitoring and, as cyber-attacks become more regular, and scammers become more sophisticated, we all need to remain on alert.

We know it can be tough to make sense of what you should do to stay safe online, so we wanted to share some simple tips with everyone. There is also a lot you can do to protect yourself. To help keep your DreamozTech account secure, we have enhanced our authentication process by enabling two-step verification. This is a type of multi-factor authentication employed when you log in via our website or via the DreamozTech app as well as verifying your identity when interacting with us.

How does two-step verification work?
Whenever you log in, we always use two different steps to verify that you’re you – but there are a few ways we can do it.

Step 1: Your password
You will always need your password to log in to your account.

Step 2: Access to your phone or email
Code sent by text message – our standard approach is to send a verification code to your mobile phone.

Code sent by email – if there’s an issue with reaching you by mobile, we can send a verification code to your email address instead.

Facial or fingerprint recognition – if your phone has facial or fingerprint recognition set up, you can use that to verify yourself when you’re logging in using the DreamozTech app. To find out more, please visit our two-step verification information page.

Additional Verification
In the event where two-step verification is not working via SMS, email, or biometrics, please contact us and we will assist in verifying your account. We may ask for two types of government issued identification such as driver’s licence, passport, or Medicare card.

Please note: we do not store identification data in our system. You will need to provide it every time you are unable to complete the two-step verification process.

What should I do to improve my security?
To improve your security, we recommend making sure your contact details are up to date. This will ensure you are able to receive a one-time code to verify your identity. For more security options (recommended), enable biometrics through the DreamozTech app.

Never share your password with anyone. If possible, change your password every 6 months and keep your contact details up to date for the two-step verification to work seamlessly.

We know it can be tough to make sense of what you should do to stay safe online, so we wanted to share some simple tips with you.

Tip 1 - Banking:
Always check your bank accounts for any unusual or fraudulent activity and notify your financial institution immediately if something is not right.

Tip 2 - Incoming Communications:
Be sceptical of any unexpected incoming communication, no matter if it appears to be from a company you use and trust, and regardless of whether it is an email, text message, or phone call. If in doubt, double-check by reaching out to the company using contact details from their official website, or their app if they have one.

Tip 3 - Passwords:
Use strong passwords. Consider making your passwords a phrase that is unique to you. Typing a few words is easier and can be more secure than most traditional passwords. Never reuse passwords across multiple apps or websites. Use a password manager to generate passwords and help keep them secure. Don’t reuse passwords across multiple apps or websites. Never share your password with anyone.

Tip 4 - Device updates:
Apply the latest updates. Protect your devices by making sure the latest iOS, MacOS, Android or Windows updates are applied. Many modern devices will automatically check for updates and apply them. It will do the same for apps downloaded from official app stores.

Tip 5 - Social media:
Be mindful of what you share on social media. Limit the amount of personal information you share online like your birthday, address, or photos that identify your location or those of family and friends. Scammers often use information they can find out about you online to make their scams more convincing.

Tip 6 - Wi-Fi:
Use secure Wi-Fi. Be careful about sending and receiving confidential information across a public Wi-Fi network - it's easier for hackers to intercept it.

If you suspect at any time that your account or ID may have been compromised, please reach out to your relevant service providers – telecommunication, banking, utilities.

TIP: We will never ask for your password over the phone.
